Maxima Introduces New Datcon "Severe" Duty Oil Pressure Senders For Rugged On- And Off-Road Applications

LANCASTER, PA.-April, 1998. Maxima Technologies has introduced a new line of Datcon-brand "severe" duty oil pressure senders for today's demanding off-road and industrial applications. Rated at 0-80 psi and 0-100 psi, these units have been specifically designed for customers who are using equipment in the field that is being subjected to severe shock and vibration that exceeds the sender performance requirements of SAE J1810. The product also lends itself to applications where equipment is being operated in the field literally "around the clock" and/or at a constant RPM where a field failure could go undetected for a long period of time (e.g. in a remote application). Field data collection has confirmed that vibration levels in certain applications actually top 40 Gs peak and that random vibration profiles of certain machines can reach 6-7 GRMS.

Of particular note, the new sender provides a positive and consistent electrical connection between its resistance coil and the output terminal, which in turn has the effect of minimizing if not eliminating the likelihood of erratic gauge behavior (a typical symptom of a sender problem). Units have been shown to perform reliably when during random vibration testing over a frequency range of 24-2,400 Hz.. In addition, units have been subjected to a nine-hour accelerated life test in each plane (X, Y and Z) during which random vibration is generated at over 14 GRMS, which is at least twice as severe as any level observed in the field. As a result, units have demonstrated a high tolerance to severe vibration and compliance with customer specifications for "noise" tolerance (which means that gauges will operate accurately and consistently).

"Severe" duty senders complement Datcon brand regular and heavy duty oil pressure senders, thus giving the customer a wider range of choices for different applications and providing a natural "option-up" strategy for a customer's product line. In this way, the customer can be sure to select the right sender.

Maxima Technologies is a global manufacturer and full-service supplier of electronic controls and monitoring systems.
