LANCASTER, PA. -- May, 1997. Local firm Datcon Instrument Company announced record-breaking performance at a recent company celebration following a year of aggressive reengineering by its Core Business Team and associates. Datcon's 1997 fiscal year closed at the end of April and for the year, the company set all-time records for orders, shipments and productivity. As a result, the company rewarded its associates with a gain-sharing check worth $1,454.10 each for the 4th quarter of FY 1997. The total payout for the year amounted to nearly $1,700.

In addition, the firm recently hired 32 new associates for strategic positions to keep up with growing demand. As such, Datcon has committed itself to the local community in a strong way.

During the company's celebration, Oddie Leopando, President, declared that "Datcon has reestablished a foundation upon which we may grow our business and share equally in the rewards. All of our associates contributed to this major breakthourgh in performance and we are just getting started. And that is our bottom line."

Other major accomplishments for the year included:

• ISO 9001 registration in only six months.
• Major new programs pending with Caterpillar, Harley-Davidson and Ingersoll-Rand.
• Major gain in overseas business (exports and regional sales).
• Investment of $1,000,000 in new Information Technology computer system.
• 100% on-time delivery at year end.
• Institution of an associate recognition program tied into the company's value system.
