LANCASTER, PA.--July, 1997. In response to customer demand, Datcon Instrument Company has developed a system to conveniently and continuously monitor the transmission oil temperature of the popular Allison World Transmission (AWT), particularly in the high operating temperature range of 300°F to 350°F. Four (4) kits have been released, each of which includes a specially designed sender and gauge with a Smart Instrument^® feature to provide an active visual alert for the operator when temperatures exceed certain limits. Two types of matching gauges are available: 1) a Heavy Duty Industrial version with Smart^® and 2) an IllumaSeal^® version with Smart^® for applications where the unit must be fully sealed.

The sender may be installed directly into the fitting at the transmission oil cooler port. The Smart^® gauge can be set to a trip point of either 300°F (for versions without a retarder) or 330°F (for versions with a retarder). These settings reflect the maximum intermittent oil temperature ratings for non-retarder and retarder models, respectively. The following kits are now available:
