Datcon History DATCON stands for "Dimensional And Time CONtrol". Datcon was formed in 1970 as a spin-off from the original Hamilton Watch Company. Datcon evolved as a leading supplier of instrumentation to the off-highway and industrial vehicle O.E.M. markets. In 1995, Datcon acquired Industrias Jorda, S.L. of Rubi (Barcelona), Spain, makers of AST brand instruments, and in 1998, Datcon and Jorda were combined with newly acquired Stewart Warner Instrument Corporation to form MAXIMA TECHNOLOGIES. Our Lancaster, Pennsylvania operation, built in 1988, includes a manufacturing & assembly facility, offices for supporting teams and Maxima's Technology Center. Located about 70 miles west of Philadelphia, this operation is situated in the heart of Amish country on 19 acres of land. The current Datcon logo, introduced in 1996, traces its format to late 19th century "fast track" style lettering as notably employed by a legendary railroad in Colorado that was occasionally robbed by Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. The intent here was to combine a more aggressive forward-moving look that is both contemporary yet retro, with a complementary "crescent" symbolic of the Hamilton Watch connection and our history with round instruments.
